Do not worry about the separation of you and your wife; there are many people that have been able to get their wives back. Even if you have not spoken to your wife in a good deal of time, understand that you are still capable to get back into a healthy relationship with her. Things you can do to make yourself happier could include hanging out with old friends, playing a favorite sport, starting your own business (it will help you even if things don't work out!) Simply do things to raise your confidence with yourself.
Take time to ensure that you are physically healthy. You're ex wife will most likely find more attraction to you if you show to be more attractive than she remembered. Go to the gym, go play sports, swim, run, whatever to help your physical being.
After sufficient time has passed, look into making contact with her. Before you do so, plan your actions thoroughly, this is not a time to say something wrong or be in a situation where you are without something to say. After planning make contact with her, this could be by a letter, or by phone, or perhaps in person, but just make sure your ready.
Begin with subtleties, like asking how she has been, or how things have been going for her. After you feel more comfortable talking to her, then you can bring up what may have happened or that you are sorry for something that happened, just remember to not apologize without reasoning to do so. Take things slowly and don't push anything on to her (emotionally, not physically!). After increasing the amount of communication between you her, and you can surely tell that she is more than comfortable with you, make your inquisition as to whether she would appreciate a new relationship with you.
These are just a few things to consider when wanting to get an ex wife back, but nonetheless the most important thing to consider is that you need to worry about yourself, because that is what can make or break your intentions within your actions.
